Money, for most pastors, is one of the hardest topics to preach to
their congregation. This is because while some pastors feel it is
self-serving, others feel very inadequate, and few want the reputation
that “all they ever talk about is money”, especially for seeker oriented
churches. We have heard many reasons from churches we serve, as to why
pastors don’t like talking about money. However, from our experience,
here are four good reasons why pastors should regularly talk about
money:
1. It’s a major part of people’s lives. There is no getting around
it. Money affects many areas of our lives – where we live, what we
drive, how long and where we work (or don’t work), what type of
vacations we take, how much we pay in taxes etc. Many pastors try to
get a pulse of their congregation and then determine the messages around
what they discern is needed. If money often affects people, why not
address it from the pulpit? Why shy away from one of the most
significant struggles faced by your flock? Continue at Dave Anderson
